Patent Drafting

Putting your idea onto (patent) paper
Phil loves drafting patent applications (he doesn’t get out much)! Taking your invention and describing it on paper is a real art, and vital to the process of getting a granted patent. It is a combination of storytelling, crystal ball gazing, a sales pitch and detailed technical specification all in one.
Plus, it needs to adhere to complex patent laws and rules. Once the patent application has been filed, it is often impossible to add anything new, so it needs to be right the first time!
The best way to understand your invention is to talk to you. This will help us understand the commercial driver, the need, the problem you have solved and the methods you’ve used. It is as much about understanding the business context as the technical details. That’s why we work closely with you to draft the best application possible.
Although quality is key, we are always aware of making any costs justified and reasonable. We aim to get the drawings spot on (using your CAD) to avoid objections and extra fees later on in the process.
